| The Minotaur Business System is a fully
integrated, configurable suite of software applications
(modules) that can help you maximize your business operating
efficiency and profit. All of our modules, including EDI
and Payroll, have been developed in-house and designed
for ease of use and seamless operation. |
The Minotaur Business System's modular architecture allows
you to choose the modules that best meet your current
requirements, and add modules as your requirements grow
or evolve. With features such as built-in bar coding support
and remote access capability, you can enjoy the best that
today's technology offers. |
Today's Minotaur Business System is the product of more
than 20 years of customer and programming experience.
For users, this translates into exceptional reliability,
flexibility and performance. Whether your needs are simple
or complex, Minotaur can tailor a system that's just right
for you. |
Minotaur has developed a highly successful implementation
process based on 20 years of experience implementing our
ERP software solution. At the same time, we recognize
that every customer is unique. Therefore, we are willing
to work with you to tailor the implementation process
to suit your requirements. The Minotaur implementation
process consists of the following steps: |
Our experience has identified that a key element of successful
implementations is the early availability of the product
to be implemented. This gives users an opportunity to
gain some hands-on experience with the software.
Accordingly, we recommend installation of at least
an initial build of the software you purchased within
a week or two of signing the sales agreement. The initial
build will consist of the standard Minotaur Business
System with as many of the customizations agreed upon
in the sales process as practical. The remaining customizations
will be introduced as soon thereafter as they are available.
At the same time, we provide a set of test data that
can be used to review how Minotaur manages most standard
business processes.
The initial installation process consists of preparing
the hardware, preparing the initial build, and installing
the build. During this process, the Minotaur installation
specialists are introduced to your hardware team and
become familiar with your IT operating environment.
An infrastructure for accessing the new software and
associated test data can be provided for both informal
and formal training. |
Concurrently with preparation of the initial installation,
we perform preliminary planning. This consists of defining
the project teams members from Minotaur and from the customer.
As implementing a new ERP system is hard work, it is important
to select committed team members.
A project kick-off meeting is generally scheduled within
a few days of the initial installation. The project
kick-off meeting generally consists of an introductory
meeting of the entire implementation team. Minotaur
implementation specialists will then meet with senior
members of the customer implementation team. This meeting
will introduce you to the Minotaur Business System and
begin the process of introducing Minotaur implementation
specialists to your business processes. |
The next step in the implementation process is core training.
This focuses on formally training your personnel on the
basic Minotaur functionality by providing a thorough understanding
of the static data in the Minotaur Business System. This
data consists of general ledger accounts, customers, suppliers,
parts, price lists, bills of materials and other items
that are normally subject to relatively little change.
In this discussion, we discuss how each element of this
data affects various business processes, thereby providing
the Minotaur implementation specialist with training on
your business processes.
Generally, during this process, the project team can
develop plans for processing your more unique business
processes.
Upon completion of the training on the various static
data in the system, arrangements are made to load the
static data from your precursor system to Minotaur.
Depending on the amount of data to be moved and the
services you have purchased, Minotaur can often aid
in automating this process using our Data Loading module.
For smaller data sets, and for training purposes, it
is sometimes preferable to manually load at least some
of the static data.
If a test infrastructure has been implemented in step
1 above, concurrently with the formal training on static
data, your implementation team can use the test infrastructure
for an informal hands-on review of the Minotaur Business
System. Once static data has been loaded, a test infrastructure
that accesses your static data can be made available
to make this informal hands-on review even more familiar
to the user. |
Once core training has been completed, gap analysis can
proceed. At this stage, your implementation team should
have a solid knowledge of Minotaur functionality and Minotaur
implementation specialists should have been introduced
to your unique business processes. Any gaps between the
Minotaur system and your business processes are identified.
Decisions can be made as to whether your business processes
can be easily modified. Alternatively, specifications
can be developed for customizations to the Minotaur Business
System that will let it process them without requiring
business process changes. If customizations are identified,
these can be developed, tested and installed. |
At this stage, training can be extended beyond the implementation
team. Alternatively, you can elect to train only your
implementation team and have them pass on their knowledge
to the wider company community. In any case, each functional
area within your company is trained on using Minotaur
to accomplish business processes. Minotaur can tailor
the type and style of training to your requirements. |
We have found that each of our customers has its own comfort
level with respect to the amount of testing required before
implementing the Minotaur Business System. The range of
testing runs the gamut from a few days of testing isolated
functionality to a full-fledged parallel run. While we
recommend some form of parallel run, we are willing to
work with you to provide a testing framework that is suitable
for your needs.
No matter what kind of testing you wish to conduct,
it is important to realize this is not something Minotaur
can do for you. While we are available to help to design
an appropriate test, and to help you with unfamiliar
Minotaur functionality, we cannot do the testing itself
or the testing is not likely to mean anything. You should
be careful to assign enough resources to conduct the
level of testing you are interested in. |
Final implementation consists of preparing your database
and then going live. Normally you will start with a clean
database consisting only of your static data such as accounts,
customers, suppliers and parts. We will aid in developing
a plan to load your opening balance data such as opening
general ledger balances, opening inventory stock balances,
opening accounts receivable and opening accounts payable.
Once this information is entered to the new system,
you are ready to begin live processing using the Minotaur
Business System. |
Once your implementation is complete, Minotaur is available
to help as your business grows. Business growth often
leads to new business processes. While we know that many
can be accommodated using the standard Minotaur Business
System, there are occasionally a few that require special
processing. We are available to work with you to develop
appropriate customizations to address your ongoing requirements.
In this way, the Minotaur Business System can grow with
your business and not become a bottleneck to your growth. |
