| It’s Here! Growing Forward Grant Program across Canada |
The federal and provincial governments have combined on a long term grant program for Food companies, with the federal government picking up 60% of the costs and the provinces providing 40%. Each province gets to decide what their grant program will look like, what criteria will be used and how much each company can get.
In Ontario, it offers grants up to $20,000 for the implementation of or improvement to lot traceability systems. In Ontario, both food processors and distributors qualify. To submit an application in Ontario you must attend a growing forward 3 hour Information session before submitting your application. For information on the program in Ontario, follow this link (the one you have) |
|
|
Each provinces program looks different, so if you are outside Ontario, please visit the Growing Forward Canada website for links to your provincial body and the rules for your province.

This grant can be used to purchase Minotaur lot traceability software or to enhance what you already have for traceability and for the training and even the label printers to make the project work. For more information on the program, contact

More and More customers are making the switch to Minotaur’s latest version, MBS7 and are reaping the rewards of great new features such as the ability to quickly email pdfs, view forms on screen, quickly get data into Excel, and much more. Improved process speed is another benefit of MBS7.
Here’s what some of our customers had to say about making the switch;
“The windows project went excellent. Your team performed wonderfully for us and each demonstrated the sense of care and respect for our business and people.” Carmen Cesario, Controller, Italpasta Ltd.
“Having just upgraded to Minotaur’s MBS7 program, our staff needed training on the new features. Instead of on-site training, we chose to send our staff to the Minotaur training facility where everyone had a laptop and time away from the office to focus. Wendy did a great job and the training room is terrific. It was very professionally taught and I like her presentation style. We now feel ready to roll out the new version.” Tracy Parzych, CEO, International Time Recorder Co. Ltd.
If you haven’t already done so, contact your Minotaur account rep and find out how you too can reap the benefits of MBS7.
We would also be more than happy to show you an online demo of the various features MBS7 has to offer. Simply email wendy@minotaursoftware.com to arrange a time. |

Recently Minotaur has added support for a number of new documents to the EDI Module.
855 Purchase Order Acknowledgements
The 855 is a complex document that advises customers if their purchase order has been accepted, rejected or accepted with changes. This document will advise the customer on price changes, item substitutions, quantity changes, unit changes and expected shipping dates. To provide this support, columns were added to the sales order line item screen for an alternate ship date and an alternate shipping quantity. These new fields enable the user to identify all the expected ship dates and quantities to be shipped on those dates. The logic is set up so that the user simply modifies the details on the sales order and creates the 855. The program compares the sales orders with the original 850 PO and identifies differences sending the details in the 855.
To better qualify inventory units used in Minotaur, a new field was added to the units definition screen to identify the ANSI and or ISO Unit code that is equivalent to the Minotaur Inventory Unit.
850 Purchase Order
Minotaur has always supported incoming 850’s. The program now supports outgoing 850’s. The 850 Purchase order is generated directly from the Minotaur Purchase Order.
856 Advanced Shipping Notice ASN
The outgoing 856 ASN has been part of the Minotaur EDI module from the beginning. Recently support was added for Incoming ASN’s. The program uses the prices and landing factor details from the purchase orders and the quantities from the ASN to generate the interim bill. Serial number and Lot numbers are supported in this document.
Third part Warehouse management tools
Minotaur has also added a group of documents used for communication with a 3rd party warehouse facility. The documents are the 940, 944 and 945.
940 Warehouse Shipping Order
This transaction is used to advise a warehouse of a sales order to be shipped to a customer. The document advises the warehouse of the delivery address, requested ship date and the details of the items to be shipped. This document is generated directly from the Minotaur sales order.
945 Warehouse Shipping Advice
This transaction is returned by the warehouse once the shipping request made with the 940 has been shipped. Minotaur processes the 945 and generates a shipment based on the quantities specified in the 945
944 Warehouse Stock Transfer Receipt Advice
This document is sent by the third party warehouse when a supplier delivers your order to their warehouse. Minotaur interprets this document and generates an interim bill based on the quantities defined in the 944 and the prices and landing factor information from the Minotaur purchase order.
For more information on these or any EDI documents please contact your Minotaur Account Representative. |

Blanket orders are single large agreements made with your customers to purchase material over a period of time. There is no specific requirement to deliver any product on any given date. Over time, the customer will send releases indicating that a certain amount of material should be delivered based on the terms of the blanket order.
The new Blanket Orders Management feature treats blanket orders differently than regular single orders. Primarily, it is important for production planning, that the initial blanket order is not treated as a real order in the |
| |
system or you could accidentally over produce product. When blanket orders arrive, they are loaded into the system and flagged as quotes rather than orders in order to ensure they can be eliminated from system requirement reporting.
When releases against a blanket order arrive, the purchase order number assigned to the release will be set up to include the blanket order purchase order followed by a tilde (~) followed by the release number.
Each blanket order will be identified as being for fixed or variable quantity. When a release is shipped for a fixed quantity blanket order, the system will identify the associated blanket and reduce the quantities on the blanket order as well as reducing the quantities on the release order. Note that this means that the blanket order is updated at release shipment time, not at time of entry of the release order.
For more information on the new blanket order management function please contact your Minotaur Account Representative. |
 |
| |
| Fixed Blanket refers to a blanket order made for a fixed quantity. Variable blanket refers to blanket orders that do not reflect a fix quantity. |
