Out of the Maze
A Publication of Minotaur Software Ltd.

If the user enters anything but an A or a B to the Allocate column on the order detail screen before selecting to calculate, the system will simply display the new manual lot allocation screen without first attempting to do any FIFO allocation.
The new Manual Lot Allocation Screen displays all existing lots of the part in FIFO order. The screen will also outline orders to which portions of those indicated lots have already been allocated. If the user entered a B to the Allocate column on the order detail screen, the manual lot allocation screen will also display the assignment of the appropriate FIFO lot to the current order.
Once the Manual Lot Allocation Screen is displayed, the user can adjust the allocations of lots as they see fit. This means they can adjust which lot gets assigned to the current order. If necessary, they can also adjust lots assigned to other orders. (This might be used for example, if a lot desired by the current customer had previously been assigned to another customer that does not care which lot they get).
While FIFO lot allocations are still done on a location basis (that is only lots existing in the location specified for the order can be assigned to that order), manual lot allocations can be done regardless of the warehouse (location) in which they are currently stored. (Of course, when shipping the order, the lot must still first be moved to the location from which the order is being delivered).
Once the user has selected the desired lot assignments, they can OK the Manual Lot Allocation Screen and they will be returned to the order detail screen. The user can then process lot allocations for each part on the order detail screen.
The selected lot allocations will print on the picking slip as before when the order has been completed. It is possible to access the Manual Lot Allocation Screen both when entering an order and when editing an order if adjustments are required. In addition, lot allocations for a part can be adjusted without editing an order by using a new Lot Allocation option. That option will allow the user to select a part and will then display the Manual Lot Allocation screen for that part.
In addition to the new Manual Lot Allocation Processing options, there is a new Lot Allocation report which shows all the lot allocations made for a user selected range of parts.
